Moravany nad Váhom

Moravany nad Vahom are západoslovenská picturesque village located in the Trnava region, in the district of Piestany. The village belongs to the region to be, it has an area of 1079 ha and 2359 inhabitants. It offers visitors a peaceful and quiet environment with interesting historical and cultural monuments. The village is situated between the mountains Považský Inovec Považský spur Danube plain. Altitude municipal area is 180 m. n. m. On the northwest side of the village is a natural monument called big ditch, which hides loess ravines and important paleontological site. By hiking trails, visitors can get up to Krahulčích mountains in Považský Inovec, where there is a karst area called the Falcon's cliff. It pays to visit the Great dolnosokolskú cave, which is located in the Falcon rocks. Magic nature, visitors can enjoy while walking around or hiking or cycling tours in the surrounding hills and mountains. Nature trail called"Moravany nad Váhom" offers a 5.3 km long tour with four stops. First stop Volavec provides an overview of the development and forest management, one to the other Black Creek is associated with work in the forest, the third Discharges is an area with caves from the younger stone houses and the last stop Trhovičná meadow is the transition from Ponitria on the nature. The oldest monument in the village is a medieval Roman Catholic Church of St. Martin built in 1348 in the Romanesque style. In 1963 the church was given to the central list of monuments. The construction project is the Chapel of Our Lady of Sorrows in 1757. The pride of the village is the Renaissance manor house built in the 16th century, later reconstructed in baroque style. Around the building is an English park, which is a gallery of sculptures by artists from around the world. An interesting finding is the statue of a woman of Moravian Venus, discovered in 1938 and carved out of mammoth tusk. Statuette represents the oldest evidence of artistic expression in Slovakia.
